Smriti Agrawal Zaneveld, Ph.D. has had a long and varied career in research and development. Smriti began their career in 2006 as a Waksman High School Student Scholar at Rutgers University. Smriti then continued their education at Monmouth University, where they served as an Undergraduate Research Student, Summer Research Intern, and School of Science Peer Mentor from 2010-2012. In 2012, they became a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Delaware. In 2014, they took on the role of Founder and President at Lazarus 3D, a medtech startup focused on improving patient safety and surgical outcomes. At the same time, they were a Ph.D. Candidate at Baylor College of Medicine, where their thesis research focused on validating the pathogenecity of variants identified by Next Generation Sequencing-based molecular diagnosis of patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) /leber congenital amaurosis (LCA). In 2010, they also served as a Drug Research and Development Intern at Tris Pharma.
Smriti Agrawal Zaneveld, Ph.D. obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Human/Medical Genetics from Baylor College of Medicine in 2018. Prior to this, they earned their Master of Science (MS) in Biological Sciences from the University of Delaware in 2014. Smriti also holds a Bachelors of Science in Biology (Molecular Cell Physiology) and Chemistry Minor from Monmouth University, which they obtained in 2012.
