Mary Kay Murphy has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Mary Kay started their career as a Teacher and Instructional Specialist at Godwin Heights Public Schools in 1997 and worked there until 2009. From 2009 to 2011, they served as a Response to Intervention District Consultant at Houghton Lake Community Schools. Mary Kay then moved on to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Catholic School, where they worked as a Teacher/Principal from 2011 to 2012. In 2012, they joined Partners in School Innovation as a School Innovation Partner and worked there until 2015. Mary Kay Murphy then worked as an Assistant Director, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at The Education Trust-Midwest from 2015 to 2016. Currently, they are working at Leading Educators, first as a Senior Director of Networks from 2016 to 2023, and later as the Managing Director starting in December 2022.
Mary Kay Murphy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Aquinas College - Grand Rapids, which they attended from 1992 to 1997. Mary Kay later pursued a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General at Grand Valley State University, completing their studies from 2000 to 2003.
In addition to their formal education, Mary Kay Murphy obtained a Leading for Equity & Justice Certificate from Eastern Michigan University in April 2021.
