Hillarie Finley

Hillarie Finley is the current Collection Development Librarian at Lebanon Public Library. Hillarie has held this position since April 2017 and their previous positions include Social Media Coordinator/Instructor at Sylvan Learning and Circulation Clerk at Kirklin Public Library.

Hillarie has always had a passion for books and writing. In 2015, they founded Hills and Quills, a book review blog that has since gained a large following. It was through Hills and Quills that they learned about the importance of social media in promoting library services and events. This led to their becoming the Technology Assistant at Kokomo-Howard County Public Library, where they created social media plans and wrote posts to promote the library's programs and services.

In 2017, Hillarie took a position as Social Media Coordinator/Instructor at Sylvan Learning. In this role, they created social media plans for eleven Sylvan Learning Centers in Indiana. Hillarie also wrote posts and shared content based on Sylvan's target demographic.

In their current role as Collection Development Librarian at Lebanon Public Library, Hillarie is responsible for collection development and management for the library's adult fiction and nonfiction collections. Hillarie has also managed the library's social media accounts, redesigned the library's website, and written new content for the website. Additionally, they have run the library's National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) program and designed flyers and signage as needed.

Hillarie Finley has a Master of Library & Information Science from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism / Media Writing from Taylor University, and a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Manchester University. Hillarie is also certified from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis in Master of Library and Information Science and from Indiana State Library in Librarian Certificate 2.

They work with Yvonne Kozlowski - Patron Services Librarian, Katie Smith - Patron Services Librarian, and Lynn Short - Circulation Assistant. Their manager is Yvonne Welty, Assistant Director.
