Alexander Whaley co-founded Upskill2Own in 2021. Prior to that, they had an extensive career at LECO Africa (Pty) Ltd. Starting in 2005, they held multiple roles including Director of Separation Science Sales, Africa and Asia Pacific Rim, General Manager of Separation Science, Product Manager of Separation Science, and Separation Science Consultant. Throughout their time at LECO Africa, Alexander was responsible for driving sales, managing teams, providing support, and developing solutions for customers. Before joining LECO Africa, they worked as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Pretoria from 1998 to 2004.
Alexander Whaley completed their International Baccalaureate at the United Nations International School from 1988 to 1993. Alexander then pursued a Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Chemistry with Analytical Science at the University of East Anglia from 1994 to 1997. Following this, they obtained a Master's degree (MSc) in Analytical Chemistry, specializing in ICP-OES, AA, and Graph Furn, from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria between 1997 and 2000. Finally, they concluded their education with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science at the University of South Africa from 2000 to 2005.
