Andi Brierley

Senior Lecturer at Leeds Trinity University

Andi Brierley has a diverse work experience history. They began their career as a Youth Justice Officer at Leeds City Council in 2007, where they supervised and provided interventions to disengaged youth. They also prepared reports for courts based on risk assessments. In 2013, they joined the Youth Offending Service as a Youth Justice Officer and continued in this role until 2016. During this time, Brierley worked on reducing the over representation of Looked After Children in Leeds and improving service delivery to children in care and the criminal justice system. From 2016 to 2021, Brierley served as a Looked After Children and Care Leaver Specialist at Leeds Youth Offending Service, focusing on empowering children in care and influencing policy and practice development. In 2021, they took on the role of Care Team Leader at Wellspring Academy Trust and later transitioned to becoming a University Teacher at Leeds Trinity University. They currently hold the position of Head of Operations at Leeds Trinity University.

Andi Brierley attended The Open University from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained a Foundation degree in Youth Justice. In 2023, Andi enrolled at the University of Leeds to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Criminology. Additionally, Andi has obtained certifications such as NVQ Level 4 Working with families with multiple and complex needs, Youth Module Level 1 (Children's Environment) from The Football Association, and Football Coaching Level 1 from The Football Association. They also have a Professional Certificate in Effective Practice, obtained from Leeds Metropolitan University Students' Union.
