Roanna Ruiz

Dr. Roanna Ruiz has extensive experience in the field of biotechnology analysis and equity research. Roanna is currently a Senior Managing Director and Senior Biotechnology Analyst at Leerink Partners, a role they have held since February 2023. Prior to this, they were a Director and Senior Biotechnology Analyst at Leerink Partners from February 2022 to February 2023. Before joining Leerink Partners, Dr. Ruiz held various positions at SVB Leerink, including Director and Senior Biotechnology Analyst from April 2021 to February 2022, Vice President of Equity Research - Biotechnology from February 2020 to April 2021, and Associate of Equity Research - Biotechnology from June 2018 to February 2020.

Dr. Ruiz also gained experience at UBS as an Equity Research Associate Director, specializing in Large Cap Pharmaceuticals and Specialty Pharma from November 2017 to June 2018. Roanna began their career at H.C. Wainwright & Co., LLC as an Equity Research Associate, focusing on biotech, from March 2017 to November 2017.

Roanna served as a Life Science Strategy Associate Consultant at IQVIA, where they completed multiple consulting projects for start-ups and global biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Their projects focused on pricing, market access, launch planning, competitive strategy, and strategy and portfolio analysis. Dr. Ruiz was also a Ph.D. Candidate and Graduate Research Assistant at Cornell University, where their research centered on nanotechnology-based diagnostics for infectious diseases. Roanna has published multiple peer-reviewed papers and secured grants from organizations such as NIH, NSF, and USDA.

Dr. Ruiz has also participated in insight engineering and science programs at McKinsey & Company and The Boston Consulting Group, as well as held research intern positions at UCLA and Weill Cornell Medical College.

Roanna Ruiz, Ph.D. began their education at Harvard University in 2005, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering in 2009. Roanna then continued their studies at Cornell University, where they completed both a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical Engineering from 2009 to 2013, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biomedical Engineering from 2009 to 2015.
