Melissa Soto

Melissa Soto, CPA, FLMI has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Melissa currently holds a position as the Director of Financial Reporting & Accounting Policy at Legal & General America since October 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Manager of Financial Reporting at the same company from April 2017 to October 2021. Before that, Melissa worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at Legal & General America from July 2014 to April 2017, where they were responsible for various financial functions such as preparing financial statement projections, authoring position papers for complex accounting issues, and reviewing closing procedures.

Before joining Legal & General America, Melissa worked as a Financial Analyst at the company from June 2011 to July 2014. Additionally, they gained valuable experience as a Senior Audit Associate at Smith Elliott Kearns & Company, LLC from January 2006 to June 2011. Their role involved conducting audits and providing financial analysis services to clients. Prior to that, Melissa held a Retail Management Associate/Assistant Branch Manager position at Chevy Chase Bank from 2002 to 2004.

Melissa Soto, CPA, FLMI, holds a Master's Degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland Global Campus (2011-2013). Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland - Robert H. Smith School of Business (2004-2006), and an Associates Degree in Business from Montgomery College (2002-2004). In addition to their educational achievements, Melissa has also earned certifications as an Associate and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (LOMA).
