Ismail Abdullah

Ismail Abdullah has extensive work experience in various industries, including the Lenzing Group, BASF, BHP, and Matsushita Electronic Devices (M) Sdn Bhd. In their most recent role at the Lenzing Group, they served as the Vice President of Operations for the Textile Division and was responsible for site management and operations of the Lyocell plant in Thailand. Ismail also held the position of Site Director and President Director at Lenzing Group, overseeing site management and sustainable operations.

Before joining Lenzing Group, Ismail Abdullah worked at BASF, where they held several leadership positions, including Vice President of Site Management and Director of Safety and Environment. In these roles, they were responsible for managing site services, environmental protection, safety, and project management.

Prior to their time at BASF, Ismail Abdullah worked as an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer at BHP and as an Electrical Engineer at Matsushita Electronic Devices (M) Sdn Bhd.

Ismail Abdullah earned their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from UNSW between 1991 and 1994. Ismail later pursued an MBA in Business Administration at Universiti Utara Malaysia from 2001 to 2004. Ismail also obtained several certifications throughout their career, including the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) from the Board of Engineers Malaysia in 2023 and the Chartered Professional Engineer (MIEAust) from Engineers Australia in 2016. Other certifications include Internal Combustion Engineer, Gred 2 from the Department of Occupational Safety & Health, Malaysia in 2002, Competent Electrical Engineer (up to 11kV) from Suruhanjaya Tenaga in 2002, Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate (BEM) from the Board of Engineers Malaysia in 2000, and Corporate Member, MIEM from The Institution of Engineers Malaysia in 2000.
