Chris Barbee

Director of Development at Levine Museum of the New South

Chris Barbee is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in development and alumni relations. Currently serving as the Director of Development at the Levine Museum of the New South since July 2021, Chris previously held the position of Director of Alumni Relations at Grand Valley State University from August 2002 to July 2021, where leadership was provided to a team while overseeing engagement and communication for 126,000 alumni. Prior experience includes serving as Press Secretary for Congressman Vernon J. Ehlers from January 1994 to August 2002, coordinating media engagements and overseeing an internship program, and working as a Reporter, Producer, and Anchor at West Michigan Public Broadcasting from May 1988 to January 1994, where Chris contributed to various NPR affiliated radio stations and covered Grand Valley State University athletics. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting from Grand Valley State University.
