Brian Pinette

Senior Software Engineer / Research Development at Lexalytics

Brian Pinette has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Brian started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1983, where they worked on various projects involving AI planning systems, neural network simulators, autonomous land vehicles, and robot navigation algorithms.

After completing their graduate studies, Pinette joined Amerinex Applied Imaging, Inc. in 1994 as a Principal Software Engineer. Brian specialized in computer vision products and services engagements, as well as securing SBIR grants.

In 1999, Pinette joined Chiliad Publishing, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer. Their main responsibility was to scale a state-of-the-art search engine for monetization purposes.

From 2001 to 2002, Pinette worked as a Senior Software Engineer / Research Development at Onshore Intelligence, Inc. Brian led the technical aspects of an online strategy game website, offering online versions of commercial board games.

In 2002, Pinette became self-employed as a Consultant. During this time, they developed online versions of strategy board games with AI agents, and also created a proposal for a tool analyzing the impact of energy technologies on local economic development.

Pinette joined Knowledge Matters, Inc. in 2003 as a Software Architect. Brian re-architected existing software, transitioning it from Visual Basic to C# and creating a simulation/graphics engine with AI agents for educational games used in retail business training.

In 2004, Pinette joined Aerial Vision, Inc. as a Researcher, focused on specific research projects.

From 2005 to 2006, Pinette worked at IAVO Research & Scientific as a Project Manager. Brian developed and tested photogrammetric algorithms, and later became the project manager for an end-to-end automated photogrammetry system.

Pinette joined the University of Massachusetts Amherst again in 2006 as a Senior Researcher. Brian worked on research projects until 2007.

Since 2007, Pinette has been employed at Lexalytics, an InMoment Company. Brian started as a Senior Software Engineer / Research Development, working on the Salience SDK text analytics engine. Brian also took on the role of Senior Consultant, providing specialized services to customers and creating customized solutions.

Brian Pinette has an extensive education history in the field of computer science and artificial intelligence. Brian earned their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) between 1974 and 1980. Following that, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1983 to 1994. Recently, in 2018, Brian completed a Nanodegree program in Flying Cars/Drones from Udacity.
