John P. Fraunces, Jr., has over 20 years of investment experience within the health care sector. John is founder of Synaptic Capital Group LLC, where he managed the equity long-short healthcare fund, Synaptic Medical Fund, L.P. He was also the Fund Manager of the Turner Medical Sciences Long-Short Mutual Fund, which was awarded Lipper’s equity long-short mutual fund of the year in 2015. Prior to Turner Investments, John served as the Portfolio Manager for the Health Care Sector with Solaris Asset Management, where he was responsible for stock selection across all of the firm’s equity strategies. He began his buyside career as a Senior Analyst with Gardner Lewis Asset Management, where he covered health care equities across the firm’s long-only and long-short portfolios. Before moving to the buy-side, John worked in the equity research departments of PaineWebber and Vector Securities. Supplementing life sciences investment experience is significant work in competitive intelligence. He has conducted major projects for global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in the fields of oncology, hematology, biosimilars, metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes, renal disease and neurological disorders. John began his career as an assistant scientist of peptide chemistry with Magainin Pharmaceuticals, where he conducted small molecule and peptide mimetic drug research for therapeutic applications in oncology and infectious disease. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Scranton and received a M.B.A. from Lehigh University.
