Ana Ruiz Aguirre has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Ana currently works as a Digital Marketing Specialist at Lifting Solutions since February 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Multidisciplinary Artist, where they developed a bilingual digital translation project and wrote a book titled "Dystopia: Exhibiting Latin American Art in Canada" with the support of the Edmonton Arts Council. Ana also completed a certificate in Gallery and Studio Management.
From March 2021 to February 2023, Ana worked at the Alberta Craft Council as a Digital Communications & Marketing role. Ana was responsible for implementing a comprehensive communications plan and achieved significant growth in website traffic and page views.
Ana's previous experience includes working as an Event and Development Coordinator at the Art Gallery of Alberta, where they managed over 50 projects related to fundraising and event planning. Ana also worked as an Office Manager at TANTUS Solutions Group Inc. and as a Spanish Assistant at Alberta Education.
Ana Ruiz Aguirre completed their PhD in Cultural Studies from Queen's University from 2012 to 2018. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Arts in International Development Studies at Dalhousie University from 2010 to 2012. Their undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alberta, which they earned from 2008 to 2010.
In addition to their formal education, Ana has obtained various certifications. Ana completed the Anna Leonowens Gallery Certificate in Gallery and Studio Management from NSCAD University in August 2022. In June 2020, they obtained the Nonprofit Essentials certification from NonprofitReady, followed by The Role of Nonprofit Board Members in Revenue Generation certification from the same institution in May 2020. In April 2020, they acquired the Cultivating Cultural Competence and Inclusion certification from LinkedIn and the Strategic Planning Foundations certification from the Project Management Institute.
Ana has also obtained a Yoga Instructor Certification - Level I from Yogalife Studios in April 2017. In terms of research-related certifications and skills, they completed the Communicating Your Research certification from Mitacs Inc. in April 2016 and the Strategic Negotiation certification from Lynda.com in March 2016. Ana also acquired skills in Academic and Professional Communication for New Researchers from the Ontario Consortium for Graduate and Professional Skills in January 2016. Furthermore, they completed the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans Course on Research Ethics (TCPS 2: CORE) offered by the Government of Canada in March 2013.
Lastly, Ana participated in the UQAM Explore Program offered by UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal in June 2010. Ana also obtained the HubSpot Marketing Software certification from HubSpot, which will be completed in June 2023.
