Jessica Empeno

Jessica Empeno has a strong background in the field of healthcare and hospice care. Jessica most recently served as the National Director of Clinical Engagement at Compassion & Choices. Prior to that, they held positions such as Director of Strategic Development at LightBridge Hospice and Palliative Care and Instructor in the Geriatric Certificate Training Program at SDSU Academy for Professional Excellence. Jessica also held leadership roles at Alzheimer's San Diego and the Alzheimer's Association, San Diego Chapter. Jessica has extensive experience in program operations, family services, and admissions call center management. Jessica's career in healthcare began as a Medical Social Worker at Sharp HealthCare and they have held various roles in social work and management throughout their career.

Jessica Empeno has a diverse education history. Jessica received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Deaf Studies from California State University, Northridge in 1999. From 1999 to 2001, they pursued a Master's degree in Clinical/Medical Social Work at San Diego State University. In 2017, they obtained a Certificate in Human Services Management from San Diego State University. Recently, in 2019-2020, they pursued a Master of Legal Studies degree with a focus on Health Law at the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law. Additionally, Jessica has obtained various certifications, including Human Services Management Certificate from San Diego State (obtained in July 2017), Consultant Certification from Positive Approach to Care (obtained in February 2017), PAC Consultant certification in Positive Approach to Dementia Care (obtained in February 2017), and Cognitive Stimulation Therapy certification (obtained in September 2016). Furthermore, they received the Field Instructor certification from San Diego State University School of Social Work in 2006.
