Matt Schembari has a diverse work experience in the gaming industry. Matt is currently the Co-Founder and CEO of Lightforge Games since April 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Epic Games from November 2015 to January 2020, where they served as the Director of UI for the Fortnite Platform Team. In this role, they were responsible for various aspects of the game's development, including the Battle Pass, Social Systems, Cross-Play, Quests, Monetization, Esports, Analytics, Localization, Accessibility, and In-Game UI.
Before joining Epic Games, Matt worked at Blizzard Entertainment from May 2007 to October 2015 as the Lead Software Engineer for UI. Matt led a team and oversaw the development of client-side Battle.net features, progression systems, ranked systems, shop/monetization, and in-game UI for the game Heroes of the Storm. Matt also made significant contributions by designing the UI animation engine and integrating 3D into the UI.
Earlier in their career, Matt worked at The Collective from November 2005 to May 2007 as a Programmer, where they designed and built a facial animation engine and developed an animation viewer and particle editor. Prior to that, they worked briefly at Cyberlore Studios from May 2005 to August 2005 as a Programmer, where they started developing a world editor before the company went out of business.
Matt's early experience includes working at eclecTechs from March 2000 to May 2005 as the Lead Programmer/System Administrator. Matt started as a web developer and eventually worked on web applications and database solutions. Matt also served as a system administrator for the company's ISP division.
Matt'searliest known position was at Stratics, Inc. from September 1999 to March 2004. Matt initially served as the Project Manager for Shadowbane Stratics, managing a team of volunteers and implementing successful initiatives. Later, they joined the tech team and worked on adding new sites, upgrading old ones, developing content management tools, and implementing new technology across the company.
