Haoran Sun

With broad interests, Haoran is naturally curious about new technology and innovative business models. Therefore, he regards venture capital investment as a perfect job as he can learn about the most cutting-edge developments in different industries and make a lot of new friends from all walks of life.

Haoran joined Lightspeed China Partners in 2020. He focuses on investment opportunities in sectors of consumer, retail, and trading platforms.

“I am a person with a wide range of interests, so I am especially willing to learn new things and meet new people. I’m super excited when I meet an awesome entrepreneur with creative ideas,” Haoran says.

Prior to Lightspeed China, Haoran worked as an Investment Associate at ZhenFund for 3years.

While working in ZhenFund, Haoran learned how to recognize the founders’ highlights in the earliest stages of a project. After joining Lightspeed, he can not only find these outstanding entrepreneurs but also continue to accompany them as they develop, as Lightspeed covers an investment cycle from seed round to pre-IPO round. This is what Lightspeed attracts Haoran the most.

“Lightspeed is a very efficient team. Here we are trained to think independently. When I have more opportunities to make independent judgments and decisions, I will cherish my rights and take responsibility for my investments,” Haoran says.

Haoran received a BASc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Tsinghua University.

Haoran likes to read and watch documentaries in his spare time. He feels that the explorations in the humanities field via books and documentaries can broaden his knowledge and horizons, so as to better help him engage in venture capital investment.
