Dr. ir. Lourens Blok

Lourens Blok has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Lourens is currently working as the CTO at Lineat Composites, where they are involved in bringing disruptive fibre composite material technology to the high-tech manufacturing industry. Prior to this, they worked at the University of Bristol as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and a Doctoral Researcher in Advanced Composites. Lourens also worked as an Online Course Developer at TU Delft and as a Co-Founder at DelftWindPower. Additionally, they gained experience as a Graduate Student at BMW Group, where they focused on characterizing and simulating the crushing performance of composite materials. Lourens also worked as an Intern Engineer at BMW Group. In the past, Lourens served as a Teaching Assistant at TU Delft, where they were involved in various teaching assistant jobs during their bachelor and master studies. Lourens also worked as a Teaching Assistant at Stichting Studiebegeleiding Leiden and served as the PR Manager and Wheel Engineer at Eco-Runner Team Delft.

Lourens Blok began their education at GsG Leo Vroman, where they completed their secondary education or VWO with the distinction of Cum Laude between 2006 and 2008. Lourens then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology from 2009 to 2012, again earning the honor of Cum Laude. Building on this accomplishment, they went on to obtain a Master of Science (MSc) in Aerospace Structures and Computational Mechanics from the same institution from 2012 to 2014, graduating once again with the distinction of Cum Laude.
