Paulo Lopes has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry. Paulo started their career as an IT Technician/Programmer in 1990. Paulo later worked as a Training Instructor at Rumos, where they were responsible for training, mentoring, and software development. In 1996, they became a self-employed Software Developer and Training Instructor.
In 1999, Lopes joined Sun Microsystems as a Senior Instructor in the Educational Services organization. Paulo delivered courses on Java Standard and Enterprise Editions and developed customized courses. Paulo then became a Senior Education Consultant in the Sun Education Consulting Services organization, where they provided technology and organization assessments and conducted mentoring and coaching activities. Later, they worked as a Senior Software Architect in the Iberia Professional Services Delivery organization, delivering architectural consulting and project leadership for Sun Microsystems' customers in Portugal and Spain.
In 2010, Lopes joined Oracle as a Senior Advanced Support Engineer, providing support, troubleshooting, and implementation services for Fusion Middleware and Java solutions. Paulo was later promoted to Principal Advanced Support Engineer, where they provided strategic vision and guidance for successful implementation of Oracle solutions.
From 2016 to 2017, Lopes worked as a self-employed Architect and Consultant, focusing on Oracle Fusion Middleware. Paulo was responsible for enterprise infrastructure architecture design and Fusion deployment solution design, as well as integration with monitoring and compliance automation processes.
In 2017, Lopes joined Unisys as a Senior Support Services Analyst, where they reviewed specifications and designs for the DG TAXUD - European Commission platform. Paulo provided advanced support to National Administrations, DG TAXUD, and ITSM contractors, and offered expert advice to the architecture team.
In 2018, Lopes joined Celfocus as an Integration Architect, providing specialist support and expertise in integration. Paulo held this role until the end of 2019.
Most recently, Lopes is working at Linkare TI as a Systems Architect, starting in 2020.
Paulo Lopes has a diverse education history. Paulo attended the Escola Secundária Padre António Macedo from 1983 to 1989, but the field of study for this period is unknown. In 1992, they enrolled in FUNDETEC - INESC - Rumos for Computer Systems Analysis, although the degree name is not mentioned.
In 2008, Paulo Lopes pursued Information Systems Management at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, culminating in the completion of the program in 2010.
Along with their formal education, Paulo Lopes has obtained various certifications. In 1997, they received the Java Instructor Certification from Sun Microsystems, followed by the Sun Certified Java Programmer 1.1 certificate in 1998. That same year, they also earned the CCP: Certificado de Competências Pedagógicas de Formador (Professional Training Instructor Certificate) from IEFP.
Paulo Lopes obtained the IT Service Management Foundation Certificate (ITIL V2) from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in February 2004. Lastly, in March 2015, they became an Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer from Oracle.
