Simon Branigan is the Divisional Practice Head, Corporate at Linklaters. Simon has over ten years of experience working in the non-profit sector in Australia, specializing in environmental conservation.
Simon started their career as the Marine & Coastal Project Coordinator & Reef Watch Co-coordinator at the Victorian National Parks Association. In this role, they were responsible for leading VNPA's marine and coastal program, including the ReefWatch citizen science program. Some of their key achievements included direct influence over major Victorian marine and coastal policy and legislation, state-wide protection for blue gropers and ensuring Westernport was nolonger considered a suitable site for a port expansion.
In 2010, Simon became the Chairperson of Environment Tasmania's Management Committee. In this role, they were responsible for overall governance of the organisation and key support person for the Executive Director.
From 2011 to 2014, Simon worked as the Partnerships Manager at the Surfrider Foundation Australia. In this part-time role (1 day per week), they were responsible for the development and implementation of fundraising strategies and the business plan, including forming over ten new partnerships, securing grants, liaising with key donors, writing quarterly appeals and social media.
Simon Branigan has a Masters of Environmental Management from the University of Tasmania and a Bachelor of Hotel Management from Griffith University, Gold Coast.
