Rob P. van Weeghel

Rob P. van Weeghel has worked in a variety of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs roles since 2008. In 2008, they were the Managing Director of SKW Biosystems B.V., where they managed and provided Quality Assurance for an ISO17025 RvA accredited service laboratory for microbiology and developed an innovative and accredited system for the cleaning and disinfection of Legionella in drinking water. In 2013, they became the Managing Director of Finn Solutions and the QA/RA Manager of MEA-nl. In 2016, they were a QA/RA consultant for Artinis Medical Systems, and in 2018 they were the QA/RA manager for Springlife Medical. In 2019, they were a QA/RA consultant for Ancora Health and the QA/RA Manager for LipoCoat BV, a spin-off from the University of Twente that has developed the first bio-inspired anti-fouling coatings for medical devices. In 2020, they became the QA/RA for PLT Products. In each of these roles, Rob has had extensive experience with Quality Management Systems, Regulatory Affairs, and audits of Notified bodies.

Rob P. van Weeghel began their educational journey in 1984, earning a Master's degree in Neurobiology and Anatomy, Molecular Genetics from the University of Groningen. Rob P. then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Genetics of sugar transport systems in E.coli from the same university, which they completed in 1991. Following this, they studied Developmental Genetics of Cell migration in C.elegans at both the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute and the University of Toronto. Finally, they studied Developmental biology of Cell migration in Zebrafish at the University of Groningen from 1994 to 1996.
