Alfonso Castillero has a diverse work experience in the maritime industry. Alfonso began their career as a Shipboard Engineer Officer at EVERGREEN LINE in 1999. From 2001 to 2004, they served as a Lead Port State Inspector and Casualty Investigator at Panama Ship Registry. Alfonso then joined Panama Maritime Group as a Principal Surveyor for a brief period in 2004. In 2004, they returned to Panama Ship Registry as Deputy Director General, IMO Delegate, and IMO Auditor until 2008. During this time, they contributed to the reshaping of Panamanian law and the commercial maritime industry. From 2008 to 2014, they held the position of Deputy Director General and later became the Director General of Panama Ship Registry. Alfonso played a key role in driving significant developments, including the passing of Panama Maritime Law 57. Since 2014, they have been associated with LISCR, where they have held various roles, starting as Vice President until 2017, then as Chief Commercial Officer until 2019. Currently, they serve as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of LISCR. Under their leadership, Liberia has experienced improved growth rates and became the fastest-growing Registry globally. Additionally, Liberia reclaimed its position as the second-largest registry in the world in 2019.
