Vimal Kumar

Vimal Kumar has been working in the finance and technology industry since 2006. Vimal began their career at Mashreqbank Psc in Qatar as the Head of Retail Banking. In 2007, they were promoted to Senior Vice President and Head of Cards & Retail Assets and Sales Director. In 2010, they joined Arete Financial Partners as a Senior Consultant. In 2011, they joined Barclays as Managing Director & CEO of Retail & Business Banking, Rest of Africa. During their time at Barclays, they held several roles including Chief Distribution Officer and Regional Head of Consumer Banking. In 2021, they were appointed Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Money at Airtel Africa. Currently, they are the President of Liveplex, a Board Member at Airtel Mobile Commerce B.V, a Member of the Forbes Technology Council, and has a Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma from Pearson Level 7 Advanced Diploma.

Vimal Kumar attended Mariampur Senior Secondary School from 1977 to 1986. Vimal then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce at Victoria College from 1986 to 1991. Vimal also studied at Shivaji University, although the start and end dates are unknown. In September 2022, they obtained a Member Forbes Technology Council certification from the Forbes Technology Council. In May 2022, they obtained a FT Non-Executive Director Diploma - Pearson SRF BTEC Level 7 Advanced Professional Diploma from the FT Board Director Programme.
