Johnny Chu

Johnny Chu has four years of professional experience in the field of opto-mechanical engineering. Johnny started their career as an Intern at Huntsman Polyurethanes in 2009, where they developed different loading of intumescent fire retardants and nano metal oxides for polyurethane castings and foams. In 2015, they joined MIRICO as a Senior Development Scientist and Development Scientist, where they transferred knowledge from a national laboratory and refined the Laser Isotope Ratiometer, improving its performance by an order of magnitude in precision. Johnny also jointly developed an innovative laser dispersion spectrometer for open-path measurements for adverse environments, rain, snow, and fog. In 2020, they joined Gas Sensing Solutions (GSS) as a Product Engineer. Currently, they are working as an Opto-Mechanical Engineer at Living Optics since 2022.

Johnny Chu attended The University of Sheffield from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a Chemistry with Study in Industry (MChem) degree in Chemistry. Johnny then returned to The University of Sheffield from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry.
