Judy Sugarman

Judy Sugarman is a seasoned professional in both music and mental health care, currently serving as a Business Representative for AFM, Local 802 since August 2023. With a long-standing affiliation with Mannes College of Music-The New School as Double Bass faculty since 2006, Judy has also contributed as Orchestra Manager for The Discovery Orchestra since 1990. Prior experience includes serving as a Care Manager at Housing Works from October 2020 to August 2023 and working as a Research Assistant at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research from 2011 to September 2017. Judy's extensive performance background includes roles as Principal Bass with the Little Orchestra Society and Assistant Principal Bass with Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra. Academic credentials include a BA in Double Bass Performance from The Juilliard School and a Certificate in Psychiatric Research Methods from The Field School at Columbia University.
