Bob de Kruyff

Bob De Kruyff has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several decades. Bob started their career with General Motors in 1964 and held various roles within the Engineering Organization, including Director of Engineering for full-size trucks. During their tenure, they proposed and developed the General Motors Vehicle Launch Center and initiated the Strategic Vehicle Group for advanced vehicle development. Bob retired from General Motors in 1996 with 32 years of credited service.

After retiring, De Kruyff worked as the COO at Benchmark Informations services from 1996 to 2000. Bob then became the Managing Partner at Benchmark Communication Services, an automotive consulting firm specializing in product development process. During this time, they undertook major projects for clients such as Allison Transmission, General Motors Motor Sports, McLaren Automotive Group, and DaimlerChrysler Corporation.

From 1997 to 2001, De Kruyff served as the CEO of Advanced Exhaust Technologies, followed by their role as the Director of Design and Development Controls at U-Haul International, Inc. (2008-2017), where they were responsible for product validation and also served as an expert witness for legal cases.

De Kruyff joined Local Motors in 2017 as the Senior Vice President of Engineering and later transitioned to the position of Vice President of Regulatory Affairs in 2019. Bob continued their role in regulatory affairs when Local Motors Industries was formed in 2021.

Currently, De Kruyff holds the position of Vice President at a private company, starting in April 2022.

Bob De Kruyff attended Kettering University from 1964 to 1970, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree (BSME) with a field of study in Automotive. Additionally, during the same period, they also studied at the Motors Institute, affiliated with Kettering University, specializing in automotive engineering.
