Michele Smolin

Michele Smolin has extensive experience in the legal field, spanning over several companies and roles.

Starting in 1992, they worked as an Associate at Gold, Rotatori & Schwartz, Co. LPA until 1993. From 1993 to 1996, they served as a Public Defender Trial Attorney at Allegheny County Public Defender's Office.

In 1995, Smolin joined Murtagh & Cahill LPA as an Associate before moving on to McDonald Hopkins LLC in 1996. At McDonald Hopkins LLC, they became a Partner/Member specializing in litigation, client business advising, and employment defense.

From 2006 to 2009, Smolin worked as a Partner at Giffen & Kaminski before joining Cleveland-Cliffs as Lead and Senior Counsel for Global and North America Coal. At Cleveland-Cliffs, they provided legal counsel to the executive team and was involved in M&A, legal and business integration, and governance.

In 2013, Smolin became the General Counsel at Nottingham Spirk, where they served as the chief legal executive and advised the executive management on various legal and business matters.

Michele then worked as Counsel at COLLINS & SCANLON L.L.P. from 2018 to 2018 before joining Ranpak as VP, General Counsel, and Asst. Secretary. At Ranpak, they were a trusted advisor, responsible for negotiating and executing sales purchase agreements.

Currently, Smolin holds the position of General Counsel at Locus Fermentation Solutions, starting in November 2021.

Michele Smolin has a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Michele also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Music, with a field of study in Organ Performance, from Carlow University. Additionally, they attended St. Benedict Academy.
