Michael To has a diverse work experience in finance and law. Michael started their career in 2012 as a Summer Legal Intern at HSBC and later had a similar role at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in 2013. In 2015, they joined Credit Suisse as an Investment Banking Analyst. From 2017 to 2021, they worked as a Private Equity Senior Associate at Lone Star Funds, where they were involved in significant deals, including the bid for Asda. In 2022, they served as an MBA Summer Associate at Citadel. In 2023, they joined Lone Star Funds again, this time as a Private Equity Vice President.
Michael To began their education in 2004 at Island School, where they completed their GCSEs with outstanding results, achieving 11 A*s. In 2010, they enrolled at The University of Hong Kong, where they pursued a Bachelor of Law (LLB) and Business. Michael successfully completed their undergraduate program in 2015. During their time at university, in 2013-2014, Michael To also had the opportunity to study as a visiting student in Law at the University of Oxford.
Currently, Michael To is furthering their education. From 2021 to 2023, they are attending The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where they are pursuing an MBA/MA joint degree.
