Aidan O'Gara

Aidan O'Gara is an experienced professional in AI safety and policy, currently serving as a Program Officer for Technical AI Safety at Longview Philanthropy since May 2024. O'Gara previously held a Winter Research Fellow position at the Centre for the Governance of AI, collaborating on a report regarding US export controls on GPUs. As a Technical Writer at the Center for AI Safety, O'Gara produced a weekly newsletter reaching 10,000 readers and coauthored a survey paper on AI deception. Other roles include Research Contractor at Epoch, where a report on Bio + ML models was coauthored, and a Research Internship at Cornell University focusing on deception skills in large language models. O'Gara commenced a career leading data science as the Founding Data Scientist at Stride Funding and conducted AI policy research at AI Impacts. O'Gara is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) degree at the University of Oxford, having also studied at the University of Southern California and Arizona State University.
