Matthew Gentzel

Matthew Gentzel currently serves as a Program Officer at Longview Philanthropy, where co-leads nuclear weapon policy grantmaking. Prior experience includes a role as a Researcher (Policy) at OpenAI, focusing on AI-enabled influence operations, and as Director of Research and Analysis for the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence. Additional positions include Program Analyst at the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Mission Development Analyst at Lockheed Martin, and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy. Gentzel's early work involved risk analysis at the Center for Effective Altruism and engineering coordination as a Data Scientist at the National Fire Sprinkler Association.
