Colin Barnes

Colin Barnes has a wealth of experience in the transportation industry. Colin currently serves as the Director of Engineering at Lothian Buses, starting in January 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Go North East from 2014 to 2023, holding various roles such as Engineering Director, Head of Engineering, and Fleet Engineer. In these positions, Colin was responsible for overseeing the management of operational depots, central stores, and accident repair workshops, as well as managing apprenticeship programs and staff training. Before joining Go North East, they worked at South Tyneside Council as the Fleet Services Manager from 2005 to 2014. In this role, they managed the maintenance and purchase of vehicles, plant, and equipment for the whole council, and held the sole Operators Licence Holder position.

Colin Barnes obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Sunderland, where they attended from 2006 to 2009.
