Thomas Starr, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CNL, CCRN has a diverse and extensive work experience in the nursing field. Thomas currently serves as the President-Elect on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders. Previously, they held the position of Executive Director of Clinical Operations for Inpatient Services at Loyola Medicine, where they oversaw various clinical and nursing units. Thomas also worked as an Affiliate Clinical Assistant Professor at Loyola University Chicago's Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing and served as the President of the Nursing Alumni Association and a Board Member for Rush University Medical Center. Thomas has also held positions at the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, NorthShore University HealthSystem, Rush University, and OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Throughout their career, Thomas has demonstrated leadership and expertise in various nursing roles.

Prior to that, they earned a Master's Degree in Clinical Nurse Leader from RUSH University in 2014. In 2005, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing. Thomas began their nursing education at Illinois Central College, where they earned an Associate's Degree in Pre-Nursing Studies in 2003. Thomas completed their high school education from Woodruff High School in 2000, focusing on a college preparatory and advanced high school curriculum. Additionally, Thomas holds several certifications including Nurse Executive Advanced Certification (NEA-BC) from the American Nurses Association in 2017, Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) in 2015, Cardiac Medicine Subspecialty Certification (CMC) from AACN in 2013, and Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) from AACN in 2010. Thomas also has certifications in Quality and Patient Safety from the IHI and Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support from the American Heart Association in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
