Dan Shaw has extensive work experience in the field of assessment development and education. Dan currently holds the position of Director of Assessment Development at the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) since 2023. Prior to this role, they had a long tenure at ACT, where they held various positions including Principal Assessment Specialist, Assistant Vice President in Test Development, Communities of Practice & Writing/Communication, Director of Performance Assessment Development, and Senior Writing Test Developer. During their time at ACT, Shaw was responsible for overseeing research and design for new and existing assessments, with a focus on writing and performance assessments. Dan also had a significant involvement in applied research in artificial intelligence, text analytics, and innovative assessment technologies. Before joining ACT, Shaw worked as an Adjunct Faculty and a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Georgia.
Dan Shaw has a diverse educational background. Dan attended Georgia Tech in 1993 and then transferred to The University of Georgia in 1994. From 1994 to 1997, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Dan continued their studies at The University of Georgia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature in 1999. Dan Shaw furthered their education at the same university and obtained a Master of Arts degree in English in 2002.
