David Newton

VP, State Public Sector Health at LTS

David Newton has extensive work experience in the public health and emergency medical services (EMS) field. David is currently employed as the VP of State Public Sector Health at LTS since 2022. Prior to their current role, they worked at the Georgia Department of Public Health for several years, taking on various positions. From 2017 to 2022, they served as the Director of Health Protection, Deputy Director of Health Protection, Director of the Office of EMS and Trauma, and Deputy Director of the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma. In these roles, they were responsible for managing operations, personnel actions, licensing, and training coordination within the EMS and trauma divisions. Before joining the Georgia Department of Public Health, David worked at Gwinnett Technical College as a Paramedic Instructor from 2006 to 2017, where they led the development and coordination of the EMS program and supervised faculty. David also served as the EMS Program Director at Dalton State College from 2003 to 2006 and as an EMT/Paramedic Instructor at Lanier Technical College from 2002 to 2003. Overall, David Newton's experience spans leadership, program development, accreditation, and training coordination in the public health and EMS field.

David Newton has a strong educational background in the field of public health. David obtained their Doctor of Public Health degree from The University of Georgia, where they studied Public Health from 2012 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Health Policy and Management at the same institution, starting in 2007 and finishing in 2009. David earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology, General from Kennesaw State University, attending from 2003 to 2005. Furthermore, they hold an Associate's degree in Health, which they acquired at Gwinnett Technical College between 2001 and 2002. David also completed a Paramedic program at Gwinnett Technical College from 1997 to 1998. Apart from their extensive education, David has obtained certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
