Amer is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Addiction Medicine in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department at Stanford University. He specializes in tapers and complicated withdrawal in patients with opioid dependence, chronic pain, and dual diagnoses through outpatient, inpatient, and perioperative settings. He has published chapters and peer-reviewed articles in these areas and is Director of the Addiction Medicine Consult Service at Stanford Hospital. He is board-certified in Addiction Medicine and Internal Medicine, and completed his Addiction Medicine fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine and his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
