Hjörtur Stefánsson

Hjörtur Stefánsson has a diverse work experience spanning over 18 years. Hjörtur most recently served as the Chief Technology Officer at Lucinity since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Amazon for six years, starting as a Software Development Engineer II and progressing to Senior Software Development Engineer III and Software Development Manager. At Amazon, they were responsible for backend services related to video ad serving and played a key role in scaling the video advertising stack for live events. Hjörtur also drove infrastructure improvements to reduce hardware costs and implemented features that generated substantial revenue for the company.

Before joining Amazon, Hjörtur worked at Ubisoft as a Senior Online Programmer, where they led the migration of services to improve developer productivity. Hjörtur also worked at Meniga as a Senior Software Engineer, where they owned the core code for a personal finance management solution and implemented performance improvements. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Software Engineer at CCP, where they designed and operated a single-sign on service for the company's games and websites.

Hjörtur's earlier experience includes working at Creuna Denmark as a Software Engineer and Technical Project Manager, contributing to high-profile web projects for various clients. Hjörtur also worked as a Developer at Landmat at the start of their career.

Hjörtur Stefánsson started their education journey in 2000 at Reykjavik University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Hjörtur successfully completed their undergraduate program in 2003. After that, Hjörtur went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in E-Business from IT-Universitetet i København, beginning in 2004 and graduating in 2006.

In addition to their degrees, Hjörtur Stefánsson also obtained a certification in March 2008 as a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist from Microsoft.
