Marcus Liwicki

Marcus Liwicki is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and computer science. Currently serving as a Professor (chair) and vicerektor AI at Luleå University of Technology since July 2018, Marcus also holds the position of Maître Assistant at the University of Fribourg since January 2013, where responsibilities include supervising PhD students and teaching. Prior roles include Head at MindGarage from May 2016 to December 2018, and Senior Researcher at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence from January 2008 to May 2014, focusing on areas such as knowledge management and handwriting recognition. Marcus began a research career as a Doktorand at the University of Bern from April 2004 to December 2007 while contributing to projects at IVU Traffic Technologies AG from July 2001 to April 2004. Educational qualifications include a habilitation in Computer Science from RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau and a Dr. phil. nat. in Informatik from the University of Bern.
