Senior Mechanical Engineer at Lumafield

Sahil Shah is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Lumafield since February 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Form Energy, Inc. as a Senior Mechanical Engineer from September 2021 to February 2022. Sahil has also had significant experience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where they were a Graduate Student from September 2015 to August 2021. During their time at MIT, they also served as a Teaching Assistant for design courses.

Before joining MIT, Sahil worked as a Fluid Dynamics Consultant at Atkins from September 2013 to September 2015. In this role, they applied Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFDs) to study and mitigate operational risks in the Oil and Gas sector, working with clients such as Shell, BP, Marathon Oil, and Suncor.

Sahil's experience also includes being the Mechanical Design Team Lead at the University of Alberta Eco-Car from September 2010 to April 2013, where they led the design team. Sahil also worked as a Measurement Engineering intern at ATCO Gas from January 2012 to December 2012, where they designed regulation stations and assessed the impact of wind loads on line heater stacks.

Earlier in their career, Sahil worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Department of Dentistry at the University of Alberta in 2011, and as a Summer Intern at GenTex Oilfield Manufacturing Inc. from May 2010 to April 2011.

Sahil Shah completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, graduating in 2013. Sahil then pursued further education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering between 2015 and 2017. Following this, Sahil continued their studies at MIT and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from 2017 to 2021.
