John Schiel

John Schiel is a seasoned information security professional with extensive experience in network security and architecture. Currently serving as a Principal Information Security Engineer at Lumen Technologies since February 2015, John leverages expert knowledge to evaluate projects for security compliance and implement best practices. Previously, as a Principal Architect at CenturyLink, John was instrumental in managing DDoS attacks and provided critical network security recommendations. John's career began at Qwest Communications, where responsibilities ranged from application development to ensuring network device security. Also, John has a background in technical consulting and programming from positions at Brandon Consulting Group and Martin Marietta Data Systems, complemented by a BS in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University. Additionally, John served as a Volunteer Fire Fighter and held a leadership position as Captain at Elk Creek Fire Department.
