Michael McAndrew is a scientist with extensive experience in genetics and molecular biology. Currently serving as a Scientist II in the Advanced Technology Group at Luminex Corporation since January 2021, Michael's work emphasizes the design and development of multiplex probe-based PCR assays and custom data analysis tools utilizing R and Python. Prior to this, Michael was a Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, focusing on the SAGA complex's role in angiogenesis. Michael earned a PhD in Genetics at Michigan State University, where the doctoral research investigated chromatin's role in gene regulation during pro-inflammatory responses, and served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Earlier experience includes roles as a Research Assistant at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and an Undergraduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin, along with blogging about music discovery for The Line of Best Fit.
