Thermal Engineer at Lunar Outpost

Kaila Pfrang has diverse work experience, starting with being a Thermal Engineer at Lunar Outpost from November 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Designer & Community Engagement Researcher at Emerald Tutu from March to May 2022. Kaila also completed the Appalachian Trail as a Thru-Hiker from March to July 2021.

In 2020, Kaila held several roles including being a Propulsion Design Engineer Intern at AGILE Space Industries from September 2020 to January 2021, and a Policy Research Intern at Secure World Foundation from June to August 2020.

Kaila has also been involved in projects at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), serving as the Beavercube Thermal Subsystem Lead from February to July 2020, and as Chief-of-Staff & Project Lead for the MIT Undergraduate Association Innovation Committee from October 2017 to July 2020.

Additionally, Kaila gained experience as a Process Engineering Intern at Evonik in July 2019, a Mars Study Capability Team Intern at NASA Langley Research Center in June to August 2018, and a Market Research Intern at Poly6 Technologies in January 2018.

Kaila's work experience extends to being a Navy ROTC Sailing Instructor at Old Dominion University in July to August 2017.

Kaila Pfrang completed their high school education at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy from 2013 to 2017, earning their High School Diploma. Kaila then attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2017 to 2022, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Aerospace & Chemical Engineering. Kaila also obtained the US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification from US Sailing in May 2015.
