Mara Lennard Richard

Mara Lennard Richard is currently serving as the Scientific Program Officer at Lupus Research Alliance since July 2023. Prior to this role, Mara worked at the Medical University of South Carolina from December 2021 to July 2023 as a Staff Scientist, focusing on Molecular Immunology under the direction of Dr. Michael Yost. Additionally, Mara held multiple positions at the Medical University of South Carolina from October 2011 to August 2021, including Research Assistant Professor, Instructor of Medicine, Postdoctoral Fellow, and Postdoctoral Scholar. Previous experience includes serving as a Visiting Scientist at the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education from January 2008 to September 2011, and as a Genomics Core Manager at NOAA from December 2006 to January 2008. Mara began a career in the field as an Industrial Hygiene Technician at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in June 2000. Educational achievements include a PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Molecular Biology/Immunology from the Medical University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science/Biology from Long Island University.
