Aija Stapars, SPHR, SCP, MS.ED has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Aija most recently serves as the Chief People and Culture Officer, also known as the CHRO, at Lutheran Community Services Northwest since October 2022. Prior to this role, they held a position as the COO|CHRO at Hearthstone from November 2021 to June 2022. Aija also served as the Interim Chief Executive Officer at Hearthstone from March 2021 to November 2021. Additionally, Aija was the Chief Human Resources Officer at Hearthstone from January 2021 to February 2021.

Before joining Hearthstone, Aija worked at Wesley Homes as the VP Human Resources from June 2009 to January 2021. Aija gained valuable experience in the field of human resources as an HR Manager at both Unigard and Providence Physicians Group from 2005 to 2008 and from 2003 to 2005, respectively. Prior to that, they were an Organizational Development Manager at Coca-Cola Enterprises in 2002.

Aija's early career included a significant role as the VP Human Resources at North Pacific Insurance Company from May 1999 to December 2001.

Aija Stapars, SPHR, SCP, MS.ED has a Master of Science degree in Post Secondary Adult and Continuing Education with an emphasis on Organizational Development from Portland State University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts Education degree with a focus on Science and Social Science from Pacific Lutheran University. Aija also holds additional certifications including Advanced Process Improvement - LEAN from the Virginia Mason Institute, SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from SHRM, and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) Certification from HR Certification Institute - HRCI. Aija is also familiar with the MBTI - Myers Briggs Type Inventory, obtained from the Association for Psychological Type.
