Stasiu Nowak

Director, Intellectual Property at Lyell Immunopharma

Stasiu Nowak has extensive work experience in the field of intellectual property law, specifically in the life sciences sector. Stasiu is currently the Director of Intellectual Property at Lyell Immunopharma since 2022. Prior to this role, Stasiu worked at Christensen O'Connor Johnson Kindness PLLC from 2008 to 2022, where they were a Member of the firm's life sciences practice group. Their responsibilities included drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting patent landscape analyses, and working with various clients, including biotechnology companies, universities, and research foundations. Stasiu also served as an Associate Attorney at the same firm from 2008 to 2019.

Before joining the Christensen O'Connor Johnson Kindness PLLC, Stasiu gained experience as a Summer Associate at Christensen O'Connor Johnson Kindness in 2007. Stasiu also worked as a Legal Extern at the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division I in 2006, where they conducted research on legal issues and drafted bench memoranda for civil and criminal cases. Stasiu's early career involved academic and research roles, including being a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of New Mexico Department of Biology from 2000 to 2005. In this position, they organized and instructed undergraduate courses in Biology and conducted research on immunological interactions. Stasiu also worked as an Editorial Assistant at the Journal of Biological Chemistry from 1999 to 2000 and as a Research Specialist at the University of Virginia, Department of Pharmacology from 1997 to 1998.

Stasiu Nowak has a diverse education history. Stasiu obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Virginia in 1997. Stasiu then pursued their academic interests further and earned a Ph.D. in Biology from The University of New Mexico between 2000 and 2005. With a deepened knowledge in the field, Stasiu went on to study law and received a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Washington School of Law from 2005 to 2008. In addition to their educational achievements, Stasiu has certifications in the Patent Bar from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Washington State Bar.
