Math, Teacher at LYNDEN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

I grew up in Ferndale and graduated from Ferndale High School. As the daughter of an educator, I never thought I would be a teacher! I attended the University of Washington and earned my bachelor’s degree in Biology. That led me to working in a lab for a few years, during which God directed my path towards education. I returned to school at Western and earned my Master’s in Education. That allowed me to teach 7th grade science for several years in Granite Falls, where I also added my math endorsement. (It is a true God story how I ended up in Granite!) Through a mutual friend (another God story!), I met my husband, Jim, an LC grad, which brought me back to Whatcom County to teach middle school math and science in Blaine for many years. During that time, our two children were born and began attending LC as they entered kindergarten. Watching them grow and be blessed by the LC community has been an unbelievable privilege. And now I am blessed that God led me here to LC to teach middle school math. To be able to teach my beliefs as well as a subject I enjoy is truly a gift from God. To help students see God in the world around them, including math, is amazing.

As a family, we worship at Faith Community Church, and I am involved with our youth group and children’s programs. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and doing crafty things and spending time with my family.
