Colleen Kavanagh Cockrum has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Colleen Kavanagh started their career as a News Reporter at The Bryan-College Station Eagle from 1998 to 2002. Colleen Kavanagh then worked as a Law Clerk to Judge David Hittner at the United States District Court from 2005 to 2007, where they drafted legal documents and provided advice on civil and criminal matters. Following that, they joined Norton Rose Fulbright (Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.) as a Senior Associate, specializing in Labor & Employment law. In this role, they represented clients in litigation and mediation, managed all aspects of litigation cases, and served as first chair prosecutor for the City of Houston. Since 2014, they have been working at LyondellBasell, one of the world's largest plastics, chemicals, and refining companies. In their current position as Lead Counsel, Labor & Employment, they provide comprehensive legal support in labor and employment law matters. Key responsibilities include advising on employment law, representing the company in audits and administrative proceedings, supporting collective bargaining activities, managing employment litigation and labor arbitrations, developing employment policies, and providing counsel on diversity, equity, and inclusion matters. In addition, they serve as a legal advisor for the company's Global DEI Council and Crisis Management Team.

Colleen Kavanagh Cockrum, an Attorney, obtained a J.D. degree in Law from the University of Houston Law Center, where they studied from 2002 to 2005. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate education at Texas A&M University from 1995 to 1999, earning a degree in Journalism.
