John Wilkin has held various roles throughout their career. John is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Lyrasis, a non-profit membership organization focused on supporting access to academic and cultural heritage through technology and collaboration. Prior to this, they were the Dean of Libraries and University Librarian at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. John also served as the Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost at the same university. Before that, they were the Executive Director of HathiTrust, a research library partnership for digital content curation. John's earlier experiences include serving as an Associate University Librarian and Head of Digital Library Production Service at the University of Michigan, as well as holding positions at the University of Virginia Library and the University of Michigan Library.
John Wilkin has a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Education from Antioch University, which they obtained from 1975 to 1979. John then pursued a Master's degree in English from the University of Virginia from 1979 to 1981. Later, in 1985 and 1986, they attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where they earned a Master's degree in Library and Information Science.
