Chris Powell has a diverse and extensive work experience in various sectors. Chris is currently working as a Lecturer at Masterschool since 2023. Previously, from 2022 to present, they held the role of Group Director of Security & IT at M-KOPA, where they established the global information security and product security division. Chris also worked as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Warwick from 2021 to 2023. Chris served as the Head of Cyber Research at 6point6 in 2021 and as a Research Director at CODA Labs Limited from 2019 to 2021. Chris also has experience working at Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Centre (HCSEC) as a Senior Vulnerability Researcher from 2016 to 2020 and at the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) as a Deployed Operative from 2014 to 2016. Chris started their career as an Embedded Vulnerability Researcher at the National Cyber Security Centre from 2012 to 2016 and previously worked as a Security Analyst at Leonardo from 2010 to 2012.
Chris Powell attended Birmingham City University from 2007 to 2010, where they earned a degree in Computer Networks and Security with a focus on Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications. Chris also obtained several additional certifications from various institutions, including CREST, Offensive Security, (ISC)², SANS Institute, and Cisco, between 2009 and 2020.
