Sophie Dennis has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles related to user-centered design and digital transformation. Sophie is currently working as the Head of User-Centered Practice at Made Tech, where they lead a team of over 80 professionals to transform digital services in the public sector. Their responsibilities include growing a profitable practice, ensuring a great work environment, and maximizing the impact on society through high-quality work.
Before joining Made Tech, Sophie was a Co-Founder & Principal Consultant at Cayenne, where they helped organizations improve their services to customers through human-centered design approaches and capabilities. Sophie provided training, workshops, and consultancy on product and service design strategy, as well as mentoring UX and agile teams.
Sophie also worked as a CX Consultant & Advisor at the UK Health Security Agency, where they developed a customer experience strategy and initiated key workstreams to promote customer-centricity. Before that, they were the Director of Human-Centered Design & Customer Experience at NHS Test & Trace, where they built and scaled the in-house design capability from scratch.
In addition to their consulting and leadership roles, Sophie has also made significant contributions to the service design community. Sophie served as the Programme Committee Chair at Software Acumen, curating the program for Service Design in Government, an international conference for service design in the public sector. Sophie was responsible for setting the overall theme, selecting sessions, and sourcing speakers.
Sophie's work experience also includes roles at NHS Digital, Department of Health and Social Care, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Land Registry, cxpartners, and Digirati/Bristol City Council. In these positions, they led various design, research, and development projects, focusing on user-centered design, agile methodologies, and digital transformation.

Sophie Dennis pursued their education journey by first attending Newcastle University from 1992 to 1995. During this period, they successfully completed their Bachelor of Arts degree with First Class Honors, majoring in English Literature. Sophie then continued their academic pursuits at the University of York from 1995 to 1996, where they attained a Master of Arts degree in 18th Century English Literature.
