David Spies

David Spies is an accomplished music educator and election official with extensive experience in both fields. Since November 2004, Spies has served as Chief Election Inspector for the City of Madison, Wisconsin, overseeing all aspects of elections at municipal, county, state, and federal levels. In addition to this role, David has been a Lecturer at Carroll University since September 2008, teaching Applied Low Brass and Low Brass Methods. Spies has been recognized with multiple awards from the Madison Area Music Awards, including 2021 Instrumentalist of the Year and 2023 World Performer of the Year. David holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas and has contributed to various musical ensembles while also holding positions in public libraries and educational institutions, demonstrating a strong commitment to both civic engagement and music education.
