John Honker

John is a seasoned broadband and telecom executive with 20 years of experience in carrier’s carrier, ISP and broadband provider markets. As the former head of Internet Services for Columbus Networks, now part of the Liberty Global family of companies, he started and grew Columbus’ internet service business from $0 to $100 million in annual revenues over 6 years. In 2014, Columbus was acquired by Cable & Wireless Communications for $1.85 billion, which was in turned acquired by Liberty Global in 2015 for $5.3 billion.

As a key founder of Magellan, John lead the company’s growth of broadband consulting, engineering, construction management and operations. Today, Magellan has become the go-to firm for municipalities, utilities, co-ops and regional organizations building fiber and broadband networks. With over 400 clients, 50 networks built and 1 million fiber-connected homes, Magellan continues to connect more communities at the speed of light.

John holds an MBA in Finance and Management from the University of Miami and a BA in Philosophy from Stetson University.
