Rick Metzbower

Sensor Engineering Director at MagiQ Technologies

Rick Metzbower has over 20 years of experience in the engineering field. Rick began their career in 1995 as the Technical Director for the Light Weight Wide Aperture Array Program at Northrop Grumman (Formerly Litton Guidance and Control Systems). In this role, they were responsible for the technical quality and direction for the design of the fiber optic Wide Aperture Array, including the design of the fiber optic sensor, the fiber optic transport system, and the electronic receiver. Rick was also able to transition the electronic receiver from an analog system to a digital system.

In 1997, Rick joined PGS as an Opto-Mechanical Engineering Advisor for OptoSeis, where they were responsible for the optical transport system design, analysis, and testing. Rick was also able to initiate an improved technique of analyzing system optical loss utilizing Monte Carlo methods. Rick later became the Wet-End Project Manager for OptoSeis Petrobras Jubate, where they were responsible for the delivery and operation of the wet-end OptoSeis PRM installation in the Petrobras Jubarte deepwater offshore oil field. Rick also served as the Opto-Mechanical Systems Manager, where they were responsible for the design and development of fiber optic sensors, DWDM optical transport system, and enabling hardware.

Most recently, Rick has been working at MagiQ Technologies since 2019, where they serve as both the Sensor Engineering Director and Mechanical Engineering Manager.
